Candour Skin Studio

Hi, I’m Sammie — the esthetician and educator behind Candour Skin Studio. I’ve spent the last 12 years working in and around the beauty industry, largely within medspas and day spas, with the last 7 years as a licensed esthetician working directly with skin. Being surrounded by this industry long before I became an esthetician gave me a unique perspective. I’ve been able to see beauty and aesthetics from different sides — from the client experience to the treatment room, and through working alongside other professionals in the aesthetics space. Every part of that experience has shaped the way I approach skin today. Over the years, I started to notice something missing in our industry: education. There is no shortage of products, treatments, trends, or advice telling you what you should be doing to your skin. But clients are rarely taught why. Why their skin is behaving a certain way. Why one treatment may be appropriate while another isn’t. Why a product works for one person and not another. Or how to recognize what their own skin needs as it changes through different seasons of life. That became the foundation for Candour. My philosophy is simple: deep education first, honest assessment second. I don’t believe in recommending a treatment simply because it’s popular or convincing you that you need a shelf full of products to have healthy skin. I believe in taking the time to understand your skin, where it is today, what may be influencing it, and creating a plan that actually makes sense for you. Sometimes that means an advanced treatment. Sometimes it means simplifying your routine and giving your skin time. And sometimes it means telling you that you don’t need something at all. Because to me, being a good esthetician isn’t about how much I can sell you. It’s about becoming someone you can trust to tell you the truth about your skin. Candour was created to be a place where you can ask questions, understand the why behind your care, and feel confident in the decisions you’re making for your skin. My goal isn’t for you to blindly follow recommendations — it’s for you to understand your skin well enough that we can make those decisions together. Healthy skin starts with honesty. — Sammie
